11095. TONG DYNASTY BACTRIAN CAMEL, China, Tong (Tang) Dynasty, 618-970 AD. The sizable two humped Bactrian camel standing proudly with raised head, its mouth opened in the act of bellowing. It wears a riding blanket over its humps rendered in lighter pinkish grey pigment, the body of the camel covered with brownish pigment of which a considerable amount remains. Dimensions 10 inches wide x 13 inches in height. Intact and original with some loss to the over color. Provenance: The Princeton Collection. Acquired in the 1990's from a major US antiquities dealer.
