6251. A BRONZE AGE INCISED GORGET. North central Europe, c. 1st millennium BC. The jet? crescent-form gorget with deeply incised dot and line pattern. 4.25 x 4.75 x 0.5 inches. Excellent condition with minor cracks and deposits. See a very similarly shaped gorget in ‘Archaeology’, Sept/Oct 2001 p. 16 where it is noted that these are found in southern Sweden, Germany and Poland. Rare. $2500 estimate.

6287. A MEGARIAN GREEK BOWL, about 3rd century BC. The bowl in hemispherical shape is ornamented with different molds of bands and flowers, the base shows a leaf rosette. The bowl is intact and shows wide deposits and a rough surface. The high is 7.5 cm, the diameter 11 cm. The Megarian bowls were the Greek precursors of the later Roman Arretine and Terra Sigillata vessels which also carried molded ornamentation, however the Megarian bowls are considerably rarer. $1450 estimate.

6288. A FINE MEGARIAN GREEK BOWL, about 3rd century BC. The bowl is ornamented with large leafes in different shapes. The base shows a very interesting Gorgeon mask. The bowl is intact and shows white deposits which can be easily removed. The high is 8 cm, the diameter is 12 cm. The Megarian bowls were the precursors of the roman Terra Sigillata. A nice bowl in a good condition. $1650 estimate.
