7549. HEAVY TAIRONA GOLD NOSE ORNAMENT, Circa 5th-8th century AD. Gold nose ornament with flattened terminals. Tairona culture, Columbia, 800-1500 AD. This gold pendant shows the excellent level of metalworking skills of the pre-Columbian goldsmiths and hints at the wealth that drove the Conquistadors. Finely wrought of heavy gold it is in an excellent state of preservation with minor wear. Dimensions: 26.5 x 19 mm. (1.04 x 0.75"). Weight: 10.76 gm. (0.336 Troy oz.) Would make a superb pendant! The bowl painted with figures of 10 seated noblemen on the exterior; the interior with a large knot pattern at the center surrounded by 9 'turkey' figures, the rim decorated with a coral snake pattern of red black and yellow bands, the bottom red glazed with multiple ribs. 4.25 x 9 inches. The cylinder with two panels each incised with the figures of ornately attired seated nobles wearing large feather headdresses; a panel of glyphs before each. 6 x 7.5 inches. The high status female seated cross-legged on a high stool with ornate costume including a jaguar glyph on her left arm, the whole with beautifully burnished cream surface. 10 inches. PROVENANCE TO 1968 11222. MAYAN CARVED STONE FIGURE OF CHAC UAYAB XOC, THE FISH GOD. Yucatan area, c. 600-900 AD. Carved basalt 11" length x 8.5" height x 6" deep. 15 lbs. Chac Uayab Xoc is the Mayan fish god, also known as the 'great demon shark'. He feeds off the bodies of drowned fishermen, but ensures that the fishermen have good catches. Here he is depicted as riding the crest of a wave. Condition all intact and original with no repair or restoration. Side B.

9255. LARGE MEZCALA GREEN JADE FIGURE. Mexico, c. 300 BC. The figure carved of green jade-like stone with incised details and openwork arms. 3.5 x 8.5 inches. RARE PRE-COLUMBIAN MUSICAL INSTRUMENT 11361. CHANCAY PAN PIPES. Peru, 800-1200 AD. The pan pipes consisting of 20 carefully selected reed pipes bound together at the top with interwoven vegetable fiber cord. Some of the cord at top unraveled and a few of the pipes with cracks and one of the two smallest crushed but the other pipes still produce sound. A very rare early wooden musical instrument in exceptional condition for it's age. 5.5 x 13 inches.

MUSEUM QUALITY ARCHAEOLOGICAL ITEM 11360. COMPLETE CHANCAY SEWING KIT. Peru, 800-1200 AD. Consists of a rectangular sewn fabric container with reed bottom and sides full of a large assortment of different items. 14 x 8 x 4 inches. Very rare to have such a complete kit full of original items on the market. The contents include a great number of items including a bone pin with monkey on top, a wooden comb, a number of spindles of different strings, finely woven yarn and feather ornaments, bundles of hair from uncertain animals, bone needles and reed containers, a half nutshell full of dried pigment, and other items. A truly exceptional and very rare museum quality item. Some of the supporting reeds are loose.

The cylinder painted with two ornately robed warrior chiefs, one preceded by an attendant, between two red banded panels with glyphs between registers of glyphs at top and bottom on the exterior; the interior with a small band of red on the rim. 6 x 8 inches. The ceremonial metate carved in the form of a standing jaguar, with a running band of 'S' scrolls around the rim, the tail recurved and attached to the right rear foot.
