11425. HEAD OF A BUDDHIST PRINCE. India, c. 10th-11th century AD. Large carved limestone head of a Buddhist prince, his hair drawn up into a Buddhist unisha topknot and wearing the wide mustache of a noble, a pearl or gold bead diadem with large central ornament on his forehead. 17 x 9 x 8 inches. 50 lbs. All original with no repair or restoration, a couple of small scrapes. On a strong custom black steel stand. Provenance: The property of a European gentleman.
