6462. SUBSTANTIAL ORNATE BYZANTINE GOLD BOX CROSS, c. 5th-7th century AD. The box cross with indented squared arms, granulated sheet gold over solid core ornamented with granulated Omega symbols within circular filigrees, an original green glass setting at the center in a high cylindrical bezel. Heavy suspension loop with granulated edges at top. , the reverse decorated with chased crosses and dots within a dot border along the arms. A similar example recently sold at Bonhams Sale 16777 - Antiquities, 29 Apr 2009 (Dec. 97, lot 210) for £30,000. 3 x 4.5 cm. 10.04 g. Very rare. Missing omega and some horn silver deposits at tip of left arm. Quite solid and wearable with care.

11351. COLLECTION OF 15 EARLY NATIVE AMERICAN STONE ARTIFACTS. Eastern woodland from an uncertain location in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania New York area. Various early types of hammer stones, flat stones with shallow central depressions, and one very rare fragment of a carved stone vessel (inner surface at upper right in the group photo) with an intact leg. All from the same location with museum numbers in India ink. The largest at lower right measures 5.5 inches in length. Provenance: From an extensive early 20th century New Jersey mineral and fossil collection most now residing at the Franklin Mineral museum in New Jersey; from an earlier archaeological excavation conducted by a local college and then deaccessioned.
