10059. SCARCE ANTONINUS PIUS AS, 138-161 AD. Nice portrait of Antoninus Pius and scarce reverse with the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus. A nice coin but unfortunately with some bronze disease. Below in the large exergue area a small boat on the water which has become entangled in vines to the r. This is certainly the vessel in which Romulus and Remus were cast adrift upon the Tiber which became entangled in a vine near the Palatine Hill where the twins were then found and nursed by the she-wolf. VF. Scarce. Interesting mythological type from the founding of Rome.
