Below in the large exergue area a small boat on the water which has become entangled in vines to the r. This is certainly the vessel in which Romulus and Remus were cast adrift upon the Tiber which became entangled in a vine near the Palatine Hill where the twins were then found and nursed by the she-wolf. VF. Scarce. Interesting mythological type from the founding of Rome.

S291. HOLY LAND STONE SPINDLE WHORLS, c. 1st century BC/AD. Spindle whorls were used by the women to spin wool and vegetable fibers into yarn which was then woven to clothe the people. Note these are not the common type made of clay but much rarer stone ones each of which had to be laboriously hand carved and polished.
